The Indonesian Basketball National Team won a gold medal at the SEA Games after winning 85-81 over the strong Philippines team last week. Throughout the history of participation in the SEA Games which began in 1977, this is the first time that the Indonesian Basketball National Team won the championship title in the SEA Games basketball branch.
Prior to the 2021 SEA Games, the Indonesian Basketball National Team had won silver medals four times. The ambition of the Indonesian Basketball National Team to win a gold medal has always been stopped by the Southeast Asian basketball champion, the Philippines.
That moment was created at the 2001, 2007, 2015 and 2017 SEA Games. Therefore, if you fail to win a gold medal again, the 2021 SEA Games will be the fifth time that the Indonesian Basketball Team has lost to the Philippines in the final. In the 2021 SEA Games men's basketball, the tournament uses a round robin system. Each team was given the opportunity to appear six times alias meet each other.
The Indonesian Basketball National Team also appeared extraordinary by winning the first five matches. Call it wins over Malaysia (95-92), Thailand (78-75), Cambodia (94-44), Singapore (91-61) and Vietnam (94-67). In other matches, the Philippines was just as crazy, which won five matches.

Timnas Basket Indonesia berhasil merebut medali emas pada SEA Games setelah menang 85-81 atas tim kuat Filipina pada minggu lalu. Sepanjang sejarah keikutsertaan di SEA Games yang bermula pada 1977, ini merupakan yang pertama kalinya Timnas Basket Indonesia merebut gelar juara di cabang olahraga basket SEA Games.
Sebelum SEA Games 2021, Timnas Basket Indonesia telah empat kali merebut medali perak. Ambisi Timnas Basket Indonesia merebut medali emas selalu dihentikan jagoan basket Asia Tenggara, Filipina.
Momen itu tercipta di SEA Games 2001, 2007, 2015 dan 2017. Karena itu, jika kembali gagal merebut medali emas, SEA Games 2021 menjadi momen kelima kalinya Timnas Basket Indonesia kalah bersaing dari Filipina di partai puncak. Di cabang olahraga basket putra SEA Games 2021, turnamen menggunakan sistem round robin. Masing-masing tim diberi kesempatan tampil enam kali alias saling bertemu.
Timnas Basket Indonesia pun tampil luar biasa dengan memenangkan lima laga awal. Sebut saja menang atas Malaysia (95-92), Thailand (78-75), Kamboja (94-44), Singapura (91-61) dan Vietnam (94-67). Di laga lain, Filipina juga sama gilanya, yang mana memenangkan lima pertandingan.
